New Deployment Options for Dynamics 365 for Operations (Cloud, Hybrid, On Premise)

Microsoft has announced new deployment options for Dynamics 365 for Operations in 2017. In addition to the well-known deployment option Cloud, the deployment options Hybrid and On Premise are offered. This extension of the installation options of Dynamics 365 for Operations is due to feedback from customers, partners and the marketplace. This expansion of installation capabilities provides a competitive advantage for Dynamics 365 for Operations.

In the previously known cloud variant, Dynamics 365 for Operations is operated exclusively in a data center provided by Microsoft.
In addition, Microsoft offers the option to deploy Dynamics 365 for Operations in Microsoft Cloud Germany in the two data centers Frankfurt / Main and Magdeburg in Germany. The Data Trustee, T-Systems International, an independent German company and subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, controls full access to customer data. In the first half of 2017, Microsoft will also offer Dynamics 365 for Operations through its data centers in Germany, providing customers with an additional choice for the cloud deployment of Dynamics 365 for Operations.

With the new hybrid installation variant, data from Dynamics 365 for Operations is deployed in the cloud or in its own local data center. This deployment option allows each legal entity of the system to make decisions about data storage in the cloud or in a local data center.

The new on-premise variant of Dynamics 365 for Operations enables all business processes to be localized without any connection to the cloud and to save the data 100% locally. The Lifecycle Services administration, diagnostics, and telemetry services are the only online connection. If you do not want to completely forego the benefits of the cloud with an on-premise installation, you can extend your application to a connected on-premise solution. An optional Cloud Aggregation Add-on allows data from Dynamics 365 for Operations to be synchronized to the cloud and use Microsoft Power BI functionality there. A purely local installation requires its own, local business intelligence tools.

The frontend and user experience is the same in all 3 deployment variants.

The following list shows an overview of the different deployment options:

Dynamicon can thus offer its customers even more individually the right Dynamics 365 for Operations solution with the respective infrastructure needs. With the three deployment options, Microsoft can leverage the power of cloud and on-premise to deliver the cloud transformation that’s right for our customers.
